2005 Alabama Field Day

The SEC, ASEC and I traveled to ten Alabama field day sites this year. We were greeted with wonderful hospitality, great food, old friends and made many new friends along the way. Out trip started out at the Gulf coast beach and ended up in the mountains of North Alabama, logging 787 miles during field day weekend and a for round trip total of 1177 miles.

We found many interesting sites included the US Alabama battle ship, several nice state parks and an amateur infested, totally taken over EOC. The field day sites we visited were; Robertsdale, Mobile, Monroeville, Opp, Enterprise, Opelika, Lake Martin, Birmingham, Pell City and Fort Payne.

I'm proud of the Alabama amateur radio operators who invested their time and energy to participate in the Field Day event. I saw a large amount of activity, ingenuity and dedication which projects the amateur radio can do sprit. I'm hopeful that you learned many new things, made new friends and ate way too much great food just as I did during Field Day weekend.
